Perinet is a Berlin-based industrial deep-tech company, founded in 2018 out of the HARTING Technology Group. It connects existing sensors, machines and PLCs directly and securely to enterprise IT, using Single Pair Ethernet and open standards. Perinet's principle is simple: keep what already works, and remove the complexity between the field level and IT.
Long boilerplate
Perinet is a Berlin-based industrial deep-tech company, founded in 2018 out of the HARTING Technology Group. It builds the connectivity layer between the factory field level and enterprise IT.
Most plants already run capable sensors, machines and control systems. What stands between that equipment and the IT world is a stack of gateways, masters and protocol conversions. Perinet removes that layer. Its products give existing sensors and actuators a secure network identity and make their data available directly over open protocols such as MQTT and HTTPS, with per-device security built in.
The result is live field data in enterprise IT without a rip-and-replace project. Existing equipment stays, control logic stays, and the data becomes usable for monitoring, analytics and AI. Perinet was the first company to develop an SPE module with a fully integrated network stack, periCORE, and won the German Innovation Award for its approach. It serves industrial automation, smart buildings and energy management.
What Perinet does
Perinet connects the field level to industrial IT. The story has three parts.
Keep what's already working
No rip-and-replace. Existing sensors, existing PLCs and existing control logic all stay in place. Perinet connects to brownfield installations, not around them.
Add IT-native connectivity
Field data becomes available directly over open protocols: MQTT, HTTPS REST, browser access, per-device security. No proprietary middleware and no gateway layer to maintain.
Unlock business outcomes
Once field data reaches IT in a usable form, it feeds monitoring, predictive maintenance, analytics and AI. Raw signals become decisions.
One platform, three product groups, all built on Single Pair Ethernet, one open standard from sensor to cloud. Security is built in at every device, with encrypted communication and access control from the field level up, which also supports readiness for the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Smart Components
Connect existing analogue, digital and Modbus signals to the network. periNODE adapts sensors, periSWITCH branches the field network, periSTART converts between standard Ethernet and SPE, and periSNOOP taps existing 4-20 mA loops without disturbing them.
periCORE
The SPE network module that gives a sensor or actuator a direct, secure network identity. It was the world's first SPE module with a fully integrated network stack.
periMICA
The modular edge computer that turns connected field data into monitoring, analytics and AI-ready information, running applications locally in the same way you would in the cloud.
Proof and recognition
Perinet's approach is deployed in applications such as OEE monitoring on packaging lines, brownfield machine retrofits, and factory data flowing into enterprise ERP, in each case connecting existing equipment without a rebuild. Perinet won the German Innovation Award and built periCORE, the world's first SPE module with a fully integrated network stack. Its per-device security model is designed for the requirements arriving with the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
